Pyu: An Ancient Script of Burma

A tentative code chart and names list for the Pyu script is available. The intent of these items is to facilitate discussion about the Pyu script and to determine the requirements for appropriately implementing the script in the Unicode standard. More information to follow.

Looking at the character inventory of Pyu, I'm struck by its near identity with Pallava. Only a few characters have slightly different shapes due to reinterpreted stroke order and attachment. It seems to me this script might better be treated simply as a variant of Pallava, which was widespread in South India and Southeast Asia.
